ACT-IAC Comes to Gravitate for Urgent Problem Resolution

The American Council for Technology (ACT) – Industry Advisory Council (IAC) is a non-profit, public-private partnership dedicated to improving government through the application of information technology. ACT-IAC provides an objective, ethical and trusted forum where government and industry communicate, collaborate, and learn.

The Challenge:

ACT-IAC had a premier event coming up in a few weeks. Suddenly their eWeb site was unusable and members were unable to register due to an unknown error. There was a new security certificate added to the site the night before which posed an unexpected problem for the organization.

  • SSL certification testing on the server was successfully completed and passed and the error was easily replicated on an http:// domain, adding ambiguity to the situation.
  • ACT-IAC was in a position where they were running netFORUM 2011, and had eWeb issue with an unknown cause that was not showing up in testing.

The Solution:

ACT-IAC engaged Gravitate Solutions, among others, for support. Gravitate found the problem, implemented a fix, and created a long term solution – all within an hour of the original outreach.

  • Gravitate discovered that a pair of JavaScript libraries had web addresses updated in Drupal, but not in eWeb, so eWeb wasn’t able to pull them in. Gravitate also determined that the header and footer relied on files from a domain that did not have the security certificate applied.
  • Gravitate created a short term fix to point to similar files on the same domain so event registration could continue in a timely manner, while continuing with a 2013 upgrade for a long term solution.

Gravitate Solutions jumped in to provide a resolution to a high priority client problem caused by external circumstances within an hour, allowing the client to proceed with their premier event registration.

I tested this out and everything seems to be in order thanks to the efforts of Gravitate Solutions. Thank you for saving the day!
