Finding records in long lists can be tedious, especially when those lists are displayed on many pages. Increasing the number of records displayed per page can make locating records much easier.

netFORUM’s baseline setting is to display 25 records per page, so searches with hundreds of records – a not uncommon occurrence – will return with many, many pages to sort through. Take the below search, for example. This search returned 231 records over ten pages.

Rows Per Page 1

This baseline setting can be changed by editing user preferences, found under the user menu in the top right corner of the netFORUM window.

Rows Per Page 2

The User Preference window will show the baseline setting for the maximum number of rows per page for lists. The baseline value of 25 rows per page is shown here.

Rows Per Page 3

Attempting to increase the number of rows displayed beyond 25 causes netFORUM to return an error message telling the user that the value exceeds the maximum allowed. The error message reads, “value cannot be greater than 25.”

Rows Per Page 4

The constraint of 25 records per page being seen here is controlled by the system option Data Grid Page Size. Increasing the data grid page size value allows the user’s preference to be greater than 25, so before changing the field in User Preferences, changing the DataGridPageSize may be necessary. From the admin odule, select the System Options link and then search for the DataGridPageSize option.

Rows Per Page 5

After saving this new value (we’ve used 50 in the example), the user preference for rows in a list will no longer be limited to 25 records per page. Back in User Preferences, the maximum number of rows per page for lists can now be updated with a value up to the new DataGridPageSize number – in this case, 50.

Rows Per Page 6

Returning to the search results in our example, we now see the 231 records displayed over five pages.

Rows Per Page 7

Updating the preference for lists does not automatically change the preference for child form lists. In our example, we’ve already updated the preference for lists to 50, however this child form is still displaying 56 record over three pages – it’s still set to a maximum number of 25.

Rows Per Page 8

The DataGridPageSize option also controls the child forms, so a simple change in User Preferences will update the number of rows per page for child lists. The user preference for the child lists can be found directly across from the preference for the list results.

Rows Per Page 9

After making the same adjustment per page for the child lists, the child form is now displaying the same 56 records over two pages.
